Illinois REALTORS applaud signing of Housing and Economic Recovery Act. H.R. 3221 was signed into law by President Bush on July 30. Said IAR President Kay Wirth: “This legislation and particularly the tax credir. will help first-time homebuyers who’ve been on the sidelines waiting for the economy to improve to take that important step up to homeownership. The significant provisions of this bill should bring some stability back to the housing market in Illinois and across the country.”

GrrrrrrrrrrrDog Gone...! ..Didn't think about taking the ol' Ruff-puppy with ya' now did you???....: oh well.....Bring me back a nice bone.
An FBI Uniform Crime report just released notes that violent crimes declined between 2006 and 2007, but burglary remained at about the same level. And in recent months, police around the country have reported an increase in home breakins. Summer is a busy time for burglars as many homes are empty while the owners are away on vacation. Homeowners insurance with replacement cost coverage provides added peace of mind. It will repair the damage a burglar does to your home and replace what is lost at today’s prices, not what you paid years ago
Here are a few simple measures to keep your home safe:
Deadbolts on doors (34% of burglars come through the front door, 22% use the back) and window locks make it hard for thieves to get in.
• Alarm systems are effective and insurance companies offer a premium discount if you have one.
• Timers that turn lights on and off make a house appear occupied.
• Ask a neighbor to pick up your mail and newspapers.
• Pay someone you trust to mow the lawn
Until next month ...GrrrrrrrRuff!

What concerns me know is lenders 'tightening up' the outstanding equity lines...some as much as by 50% . False impressions to the homeowners as to the actual value...yes, we have seen 15%+ reduction in pricing but is it already time for the lenders to step in and start the stampede? I give the Lenders and Banks a thumb down on that move....you want to create panic? That will do it.
Your thoughts?
